Jacob Laitinen

Jacob Laitinen is an actor and singer (tenor) based out of Marquette in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He spent his early years in college studying voice as a music major with a focus in opera. However, after a hiatus from academia, Jacob has returned to college with renewed fervor as a theatre performance major at Northern Michigan University and plans to pursue his M.F.A. after graduation. He looks forward to jumping headlong into the professional world with experience, work ethic, and a smile.
About Me
With 20 years of experience – from community productions to professional performances – Jacob has acted in a litany of different styles and is at home in both serious and comedic plays. Additionally, he has a solid grasp of the Shakespearean language and 5 years of operatic training with 8 total years of voice training under his belt. He relishes the opportunity to play both serious and sinister roles but loves getting to make people laugh on and off the stage.

Jacob's love of performing has also seen him sing with several rock bands of varying success, and he even had a brief stint as a karaoke DJ. Be it musicals, plays, operas, rock n' roll, film, or emceeing events, Jacob's eclectic performing experience makes him a versatile actor/singer comfortable in front of any audience.

Notable performances at Northern Michigan University include Beadle Bamford in Sweeney Todd (2018) and Thenardier in Les Miserables (2014), both performed alongside former Broadway performer and current NMU professor Paul Truckey.
